#MOMLIFE Washi Tape Desk Ornament
Because being a mom requires hashtags
A few weeks ago, I wandered the aisles of Jo Ann Fabrics in search of any sort of inspiration. I was having a crafting block that lasted about a week before my trip. While I did have a few specific supplies that I needed to pick up, I still needed some new material for my blog and Instagram. Nothing clears a crafting block like aimlessly walking around a craft store. I must have looked like a crazy person as I threw everything I saw into my cart while unintentionally talking to myself out loud about how this could work and how I could do this with that! Oh well, they’ll never see me again… well, at least not the customers. I found these adorable miniature easels and canvases. Anything miniature is ok in my books!
Take a look how I transformed this plain, wooden easel into a beautiful custom desk ornament. It was so simple. Can you imagine all the different variations of this you could do with all of the washi tape out there?!
Silhouette Metallic Heat Transfer Material (I used this great hot pink color!)
Step One – Place Washi Tape On Easel
It’s really that simple. Cut a piece of wash tape, place it on the easel, and use your x-acto knife to trim to size. This will take a little bit of time to do all sides.
I also recommend finishing with a sealer or modge podge, since the washi tape has a knack for peeling off.
Step Two – Customize You Canvas
I’ve been wanting to use my metallic heat transfer material for a while now. I created my design in the Silhouette Design Studio, cut, weeded, and ironed my design onto the miniature canvas.
That’s it! I told you it was easy. With so many different colors and patterns of washi tape out there, these adorable little easels can be customized to your liking. I can see these being great party favors or even table settings with each persons name on the canvas. Great parting gifts!
